Armos are an enemy resembling a living statue of an armored soldier that first appeared in Zelda 1.

Zelda 1

Armos are found across the overworld of Hyrule in small groups. They are armored soldiers wielding a spear and a shield who have been turned into stone. They will appear to be inanimate statues when first seen, but will begin to move around in a random pattern after they are touched. They either move very quickly or very slowly at random. Normally, they can be avoided after touching them, but they will deal damage no matter what if they are touched from the front. Armos can be attacked from any side and can be defeated with any item.

There are 2 Armos that reveal hidden staircases beneath them when moved. One leads to the shop that sells the Blue Ring and the other leads to an Old Man with the hint "Secret is in the tree at the dead-end". Another Armos hides the Power Bracelet underneath it. In the Second Quest, the Armos that lead to the Blue Ring shop instead leads to Level 2.
